This article has been superseded by How do you add an image to your content, when linking to an article? Please refer to this new article.
There are two ways to do this.
1. Using the Metigy Auto Image scaling option
Using the easiest and quickest option, Metigy does all the work for you. When creating your content in Metigy, simply start the Content Details tab, by adding the URL to the article you are linking to, into the "URL" field, and Metigy will scan the page you are linking to, and all the images available on that url, will appear in a popup box, as below. Simply click on the image you want, then click on the "Use This Image" button, to use it as your hero image.
Metigy retrieves that image and places it into the image field for you, and also resizes it to optimize it for all the platforms you are publishing to. Nothing more for you to do.
2. Adding images with custom sizing
You will use this option if you want to create or edit an image, to add branding or copy, before publishing.
The first field in the Content Details tab, allows you to import a custom image. As per the image below, you can either drag and drop your image into the field titled "Drag & Drop or browse", or click on browse and upload from a folder. Metigy places your image into the panel and that option is ready to publish.
The panel then looks as per the image below.
You also have the option to add custom images or custom sizes if you are publishing that content piece to different platforms. For information on optimum sizes for each platform, refer to our article on this topic.
To customise the image for each platform, proceed to the Customisations tab, then select the platform you want to customise. In the image below, we are editing the Twitter content, and by clicking the edit icon for "Your Image", we have the option to delete the other image, which may be more suitable to a different platform, and replace it with a custom size for Twitter. Repeat this process for each channel you want to customise. You will notice, you can also customise copy and the link, if you want to.
Metigy then publishes each version of the content, to each specific platform, as per your customisations.
Importantly though, Metigy tracks the performance of this content, across all the channels you have selected, and reports on total performance, with no reporting effort from you.
