Social media has an audience of 3.5 billion active users worldwide and provides endless opportunity for your brand to create meaningful connections. However, the problem many SME’s face is how to organically reach new audiences and grow their brand community.
At Metigy, we want you to stand out from the crowd and our AI exists to make your life easier. Which is why we’ve created the new Hashtag Recommendations feature.
Introducing Hashtag Recommendations
When you create a new post, a text box appears as normal in the content creator, but now you’ll immediately see our three new features in the bottom right corner.
The auto, suggested and trending tabs are designed to help you hashtag your content so it can effectively reach your target audience and stand out. The last thing you want is to put effort into your visual content and copy, only for it to be lost in the slush pile.
Here is a breakdown of each feature:
Auto: Metigy will identify the hashtags most likely to help you grow your reach based on your current text. You can use this once your copy is finished, and the hashtags will automatically be placed. For this reason, it’s best to include keywords that are based around your product or brand.
Suggested: Enables you to scroll through a list of recommended hashtags to easily find the ones you feel are most relevant to your content. These hashtag words or phrases will be added to the end of your copy.
Trending: This is based on what topics are trending on social media. The tags are broader but will help you to stay relevant with what people are talking about. You may use this feature before writing your copy, that way you can base your content around what’s trending.
What are hashtags?
A hashtag is a word or phrase within a social media post that is prefixed with a hash (#) symbol. Hashtags are a crucial part of any social media channel, whether it is Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or even TikTok.
Social media users add hashtags to posts to highlight a keyword or topic which then allows other users to search for it. A common one being used right now is #COVID19, or perhaps you’re even one of the 17 million users that have used the #staysafe tag.
A catchy slogan is vital for establishing a memorable brand identity and advertising the benefits of your product. So whether it’s a permanent slogan or a campaign-specific slogan, you want to make sure it’s highly visible for anyone interacting with your business and an easy way for this to happen is to add that symbol. If you already have one, be like Nike and #JustDoIt!
Another use for hashtags, and the most primary use, is to collate related content. Usually, the freshest content with the most engagement is shown first. If a particular hashtag topic gets enough engagement it can become a “trending” topic and even go viral. The trick is knowing what word your audience will be looking for, which is where this new feature comes into play.
How this new feature will help your current workflow
Hashtags are easy to use and are integrated into the current way you create content in the text field, giving you the peace of mind to plan in advance and set and forget.
With the optimisation of your content taken care of, you can focus more of your energy into the content or copy itself. This means you don’t need to worry about your audience finding you because now thanks to your hashtags, they will.
We’ve got a whole range of podcasts, creative inspo and how-to guides, including more information on optimizing your visual content and brand identity across social platforms. To make sure you’ve got a stream of content to keep you inspired. Check them out here.
